Looking Up: Gather the Spirit, Harvest the Power" by Rev. Ned Wight

Freethinkers
On May 3rd at 7 p.m. we willm eet in the meeting room of the Rawlins' apartment building to read and discuss Opus Dei, a topic Virginia Natwich thought we should consider. Call the office for directions, if you need them. Opus Dei is a controversial, somewhat secret organization founded by Spanish priest Josemaria Excriva de Balaquer in 1928. It has as its stated aim to "spread throughout society a profound awareness of the universal call to holiness." There are 80,000 members worldwide, but the organization recently entered the public consciousness by featuring in the best-selling book, The daVinci Code. The organization has many critics and is considered very conservative. We will read and consider two articles on the subject: one by Chicago Tribune reporter Ron Grossman and one from the Opus Dei Awareness Network. Come if you can. This should be interesting.

Rev. Ned's Regular Office Hours
Ned is generally in the office every Tuesday afternoon from 1-4 p.m. and every Wesnesday morning from 9-12 (immediately following the 8 a.m. meditation group). During these times, you can call him or drop by to visit -- although it's always a good idea to call ahead to confirm his schedule. Of course he welcomes calls to schedule meetings or visits at other times. Monday is his day off, and he appreciates being contacted only for significant pastoral emergencies on that day.
