The poetry of Edgar Lee Master’s Spoon River Anthology presents characters and situations that can provoke us to hold our own lives up to the light, an reflect. A readers’ theater cast of dozens of Summitarians, under the direction of Barbara Gates, have selected their own favorite Spoon River characters to offer us that morning. The characters speak from a cemetery overlooking a fictional river in Illinois about a century ago. Lisa and Jeff Garvey and Laurel Bernstein will provide a musical framework. Carol Rawlins will be the service leader.
All are welcome.
